Overview
The goal of the project was to show off a variety of trending j-fashion styles—we chose jirai-kei, menhera, and subcul—available on ZenMarket. We decided to create the ad with retro pixel art to make it feel immersive, fun, and tailor-made for people interested in Japanese fashion and pop culture.
The Client
ZenMarket is an e-commerce company based in Osaka. It is a proxy service that acts as an intermediary between Japanese sellers and overseas users. Many Japanese e-commerce sites are still not able to handle overseas purchases, and ZenMarket is able to bridge this gap and offer their services natively in 19 languages.
Project
By combining footage shot in a rental studio with green screen elements, the video blended high-quality model visuals with stylized motion graphics to evoke the feel of a retro dress-up game. The concept highlighted the unique variety of J-fashion styles available on ZenMarket. Deliverables included a full 90-second video, three shorter cutdowns, and a set of banners—three per fashion style, each adapted for three different ad platforms (9 banners total). All assets were created for three distinct fashion styles, ensuring a cohesive yet diverse campaign across formats.
